A solitary little girl on the edge of a reservoir. There’s little else to distract the eye. I think it fits this week’s Minimalist theme in the Photo Challenge quite well.

How peaceful Spotted. So beautiful how you captured the moment. I wonder if she’ll grow to be a wanderer too?
I hope so. I know that this little girl is obsessed with dinosaurs. So she may yet become a palaeontologist, which is a bit like time travel isn’t it?
Love the mood you capture here. It is absolutely painterly!
Thank you very much for the lovely words !
I love this photo. It reminds me of when my daughter was that young. I snapped a picture very similar to this except that she refused to look at the water. It was not the most relaxing vacation…
My experience is that children are a bit challenging to photograph at that age. They’ll either be really sweet & cooperative. Or they’ll absolutely refuse. It’s something about them learning to assert themselves … and learning to say No!
Yup, I’d say you hit minimalist right on the head! Love the ripples but also love that you can see the effects of the breeze in the way her hair is blowing. Fun picture and fun story behind it too 🙂
Thank you. It was one of those weeks where I thought I might have to give the challenge a miss because I didn’t think I’d necessarily have something that qualifies.
One wonders what she is thinking. Nice shot.
Thank you. Hmm, she’s 3-years old. I wonder if they think much beyond basic needs at that point … although it would be amusing to contemplate whether she’s thinking that it’s a lovely impressionist landscape.
Beautiful snap. You make the viewer look at what you want to be seen in the picture.
Thank you !
What a beautiful capture – definitely makes one think of the impressionists. Would love to see how it would look if you applied some textures to it too. Really nice!
Yes, good idea. Perhaps I should try that … it hadn’t occurred to me. Thanks.
it is like a surrealist painting, the colors are beautiful
Thank you. It was late afternoon on a summer’s day. She was throwing pebbles to make them skip across the water, and then standing back to check her efforts. You can just see whether the water is disturbed.
It is a beautiful scene. And the colours are so alike some impressionist’s paintings.not surrealist 🙂
Actually, I didn’t even pick that up … I knew what you meant so I must’ve read what I wanted to read !
