The Taj Mahal at dawn. This is one of those instances where I lugged my tripod around northern India only to find that I wasn’t allowed to take it into the Taj Mahal compound ! I’ve been told since that I should carry a bag of lentils to substitute for a tripod when I need one. Handy tip, although not one I’ve remembered at any point when it would’ve proved useful.

Lovely photo. They sell camera pillows but any soft bag can be substituted. I wonder if a monopod is allowed, you know, as a walking stick. 🙂
You’d have to pull off being nonchalant with a monopod walking stick ! Probably worth a try.
Wow, what a dream!
If only I could have that dream every night!
Maybe not inside but glorious outside and love your composition. Nicely done.
Thank you! It was quite wonderful to see the Taj Mahal in the flesh.
Simply breath-taking – LOVE this shot with the red scarf in the foreground!
It was worth the early morning wake up call to get there before sunrise. The light was beautiful and it helped.
Oh my gosh, this is exquisite!! I love that the woman is in focus and the Taj Mahal is not, though clearly focused enough to see it! Lovely composition and depth of field. Truly. Wonderful photo!!
Thank you. It’s one of my favourites too.
Why can’t you take a tripod in? Just out of curiosity 🙂
I don’t know. But those were the rules when I went. You had to leave the tripod at the front desk. As well as your mobile phone, if I remember correctly.
Huh. Odd. I’m sure there’s a reason for it though 🙂 Thanks!
It’s probably something to do with security. But be aware if you go … don’t be lugging a tripod around like I did !
Noted 😉
Bag of lentils? Where did that come from!
A bag of lentils is sturdy enough to rest a camera on, and usually you can get them in any market or supermarket. The challenge then is to find a wall or shelf in the right place and at the right height to rest it on. As I said, I’ve never got around to doing it. I just hold my breath and hope for the best !
I see, can’t imagine carrying one around though!
Yeah, ha !
