Weekly Photo Challenge: Monument

For this week’s Monument theme in the Weekly Photo Challenge, I’ve chosen the Great Pyramid of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This would’ve been a less compelling picture had it not been for a horse and carriage trotting by to give some perspective as to its size. In its time, it was the largest man-made structure for almost 4000 years.

    1. I know. The pyramid is immense. You see it in the movies and on tv and you almost think it’s going to be passé when you turn up. Quite amazing then, to find that it surprises you. The other thing that surprised me was that it doesn’t sit in a barren desert. From a different angle, you can see the suburbs of Giza in the background – not very romantic !

  1. Yet another place my children have made me promise I’ll take them to one day since I’ve been there twice and they’ve never been – oh the injustice of it all, lol! The horse and carriage certainly give the pyramid’s size some perspective though that one can quickly forget when it’s just the pyramid on its own. Right place, right time! 🙂
